Responsibilities

The Country Manager has overall responsibility for ensuring that the DRC-supported Country Programme and partnerships are implemented in line with the DRC International Strategy, DRC standard operating procedures (SOPs), and donor requirements and guidelines. More specifically, the Country Manager will be responsible for the strategic direction of DRC engagement in the country and will lead and manage the DRC team of delegates including security.

The position requires leadership, management, coordination, representation and programme/technical assistance to DRC in-country delegates and Host National Society. This will include areas of formulation, implementation, and overall supervision, monitoring and evaluation of various projects, initiative and actions, as well as further development of the partnership and country program.

You will lead a team of 7 dedicated and technically skilled delegates. It’s your responsibility to secure and build a good performance team and support each team member.

Securing funding for the country programme especially within migration, resilience, forecast based actions and by innovative private sector cooperation and financing will be considered as one of the position success criteria.

Experience and qualifications

You have a minimum of 10 years solid experience in development and humanitarian project management and experience with various donors (eg. EU/ECHO, DANIDA, DFID) particularly of their grant application, proposal writing and reporting procedures.

You have a relevant educational background. You possess excellent communication, coordination as well as networking and facilitation skills. You have good analytical skills and you can handle stressful situations. You have good cultural understanding and the ability to work in a challenging multicultural environment.

Project cycle and financial management experience as well as team/human resources management skills are essential, as well as excellent French and English speaking and writing capability. You must be self-supporting in computers and possess a valid international driving licence.

Proven experience in the capacity-building of local partners, ideally of Red Cross/Red Crescent National Societies and local branches. Regional experience in the Sahel context is an advantage.

Employment Conditions

The duty station is Bamako, which is a family duty station.

The ideal starting date of the assignment is 15 May 2020 and the length of the contract is 24 months with the possibility of extension.

The monthly salary including allowances and pension within the range of DKK 47.800 and DKK 51.300, depending on experience and qualifications together with furnished housing and instalment package.

The Country Manager reports to the DRC Deputy Head of Africa Region based in Dakar.

The contract will be administered in accordance with the Danish Red Cross Terms and Conditions for Delegates.
